What is VERBİS and who must register?

What is VERBİS (the Data Controllers Registry), who is obliged to register, and how does the process work? A short, practical guide.

Author: Kivuz Team

VERBİS (the Data Controllers Registry Information System) is a registry maintained by the Turkish Personal Data Protection Authority, in which data controllers are obliged to register. This post summarizes what VERBİS is, who must register, and how the process works.

Why does VERBİS exist?

KVKK requires organizations processing personal data to meet a certain level of transparency and accountability. VERBİS is the registry where processing activities are declared centrally.

Who must register?

The obligation is determined by criteria such as annual headcount, financial balance sheet and type of activity. Some organizations may be exempt. It is important to follow Authority announcements for current thresholds.

How does the process work?

  1. Build your data inventory.
  2. Define processing purposes and data categories.
  3. Create the declaration via VERBİS and keep it up to date.

Kivuz KVKK lets you manage these steps — from inventory to VERBİS declaration — on a single platform.
